Prepare your website for a world of AI agents

AI needs to be able to ‘use’ your website, not just humans

For years, websites have been designed around human visitors and search engines. That is changing. With the evolution of AI, ‘agents’ are becoming a new way for people to interact with businesses online; from finding information and comparing options, to making enquiries, booking services and completing tasks.

An AI agent needs to be able to understand what your website contains, what it does, navigate its structure and recognise the actions it can take. A website that works perfectly well for a human visitor may not necessarily provide the same experience to an AI agent.

How we prepare your website for AI agents

Agentic Optimisation is our approach to preparing websites for this shift. We assess how your website can be discovered, used and interacted with by AI agents; then turn those findings into a practical, actionable, and measurable list of improvements.

Getting agentic ready

AI search is already allowing users to research information in much more detail and much less time. The next stage is more action-oriented: AI systems increasingly have the potential to use websites on behalf of users rather than simply directing them towards one.

That creates a new layer of website optimisation; not just improving visibility, but improving agentic action-taking too. Organic presence remains important, and visibility within AI-generated answers matters for discoverability; but if a user is looking to make a booking, and your competitor website is agentic ready, there’s only one choice the AI agent is going to make.

What is agentic optimisation?

Agentic Optimisation is the process of improving a website so that AI agents can reliably discover, interpret and interact with it. One of the methods that AI agents can use to interact with websites is called WebMCP. This is an online protocol that informs agents how they can use the ‘human’ elements of a website and what those things mean.

The AI agents also need to trust your website and brand, in order to recommend using your website agentically in the first place. With Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), we consider how information is represented and surfaced to generative AI; ensuring your brand is understood as a real entity backed by trust and authority signals.

Our work considers the website as the whole environment an AI agent may need to navigate, rather than simply a collection of pages that need to be crawled or cited.

Transforming your website into infrastructure for AI agents

The use cases of agentic AI are vast, from finding a service in the first place, to understanding eligibility requirements, submitting an enquiry, arranging (or re-arranging!) an appointment, accessing customer information or completing an order form.

In a world where AI can do the manual tasks for their users, the businesses that prepare for this change can start treating their website as infrastructure for both human and agent-led journeys.

We optimise for AI agents across four connected areas:

1. Discover

Can AI systems actually reach the information, pages and functionality they need?

We identify fundamental technical barriers, access issues and areas where important information may be difficult for an agent to discover.

3. Navigate

Can an agent work out where it needs to go and what it needs to do?

We examine information architecture, navigation, page relationships and the clarity of important journeys and actions.

2. Understand

Can an AI agent accurately interpret your website?

We examine content structure, semantics, structured data, terminology, and off-site signals that help machines understand your business and website.

4. Act

Can an agent meaningfully interact with the website and its key functionality, such as a booking form?

We consider the actions your website supports and whether their purpose, requirements and outcomes are sufficiently clear and accessible for agent-led use.
